FOR DADDY
Beyond the Reflection

Within a person is always a spirit in a cage
A cage crafted of an unbreakable mirror
In the reflection is a merciless critic who
Tears and breaks you down with silence
Each time you accept the lies out of its mouth
A newly fashioned link to your shackles appears
It’s all you know; it’s all you have; it never changes
But just beyond the reflection, you see a light
As far as you can remember you never could break free
But this time is so different, your feet walk through the shackles
As if you are walking with water beneath your feet
You press into the mirror, causing ripples in the glass;
You fall into a dark, dark valley, and past the valley you see the light
The dawning sun is rising beyond the mountains yonder
Through the valley of shadows, you have no fear
For a Hand seems to be on your heart, guiding your way
Through the valley of shadows, your courage rises
And through the valley of shadows, your faith is being refined
Through the valley of shadows and onto the the Land of Light
And the valley is where you find you’re closer to the One who created you
Beyond the reflection is the journey to Home through the valley of shadows
