In this piece, "Let the Sparks Fly" Copyright © 2015 Mari Fahel McKimzey, I was trying to express what passion for Christ is, what freedom is, and how through the fire and storm, we are called to use our light for Christ to reveal Him to the world... I wanted to tell people through this that pain is part of living for Christ and as we let the sparks fly, there will be grief, sorrow, pain, and passion but through all there there will be joy... and through it all we should continue to love...and not be afraid.

I was hoping to reveal the tears and scars that I have experienced through time (as numerous as the stars, and as heavy as the gravity of the moon... Some, I cannot distinguish because they are too far to notice or too small... and others weighing or blazing away at my heart...

Independence From Freedom

Somehow, someway it is evident

That we have turned freedom into slavery

We say it is us, and that we are independent

Oh America, if only that were true

Oh it is acknowledged nationwide

That God is dead and we are over Him

We shut His Word out and refuse to pray and confide

We, in the American church slip

It's too saddening to laugh about

That we are fading into compromise

It's such a charade that we carry on acting out

It's the curse of the Western world

The evidence speaks so loud and clear

We've chosen independence from freedom

Running away as Jonah did we refuse to hear

God's Voice that is following
